Carragher claims Aaron Ramsdale will leave Arsenal in January

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher claims goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will leave Arsenal in January as David Raya is now No 1 between the sticks.

The Former Brentford shot-stopper joined Arsenal this summer on a £3m loan with £27m option to buy. Hence Ramsdale now becomes the second-choice goalkeeper in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Carragher suggests that Ramsdale should leave Arsenal in January for continuous game-time as he would like to be in contention for Euro 2024. The England International joined from Sheffield United for £30m.

However, Gunners now opt to start with David Raya as the Spaniard kept two clean sheets against PSV Eindhoven and Everton. Ramsdale remained positive on the bench as he was clapping for a brilliant save made by his teammate.

Carragher believes that Ramsdale might opt out for Arsenal in January and said :-

“I think he [Ramsdale] will be looking in January if he has a decent chance at going to a good club if the club is willing to let him go, he’s actually done a lot better than a lot of people thought he would at Arsenal. They could probably get a good amount of quid for him as well, so it might be something we see.

“You never have two goalkeepers of the same level at the club, especially two top goalkeepers, because it’s usually that they’re both not good enough and you don’t know which one to get rid of. I think Raya is clearly the number one choice now and Aaron Ramsdale will have to move on. If they get a good fee and he gets a move to a good club in January, I think it’s very likely to happen.”
