Cesc Fabregas to sign for Como 1907

Cesc Fabregas will now sign for Italian nobodies Como 1907. His current club AS Monaco released him after his contract expired last month.

Now he will move to Italy after he called this season ‘the worst year of my life‘. However, recurring injuries hampered his game time for the Ligue 1 club. Looks like his 35-year-old body is finally giving up after his bursting onto the footballing scene for the North London club Arsenal at the tender age of 16.

But still, Fabregas is unwilling to give up on his footballing career. So he took the decision to move somewhere else to revive his poor form. Clear from the beginning to continue playing, seems like he found his next club in Como in Lombardy.

Dennis Wise is currently the chairman of the Italian club. Back in the day, he also played for Chelsea as a midfielder. Last season, he was keen to bring the former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere. But because of Brexit, Wilshere couldn’t get his visa and is now the coach of Arsenal Under-18s. However, this time he achieved acquiring a former Gunner in the form of Fabregas. Also, as a citizen of Spain, he won’t have any visa issues.

Cesc Fabregas’ next club’s biodata

Como 1907 currently plays in Serie B where they finished at the 13th spot last season. They played in Serie A a few times; 1949, the first time. After 4 years, they got relegated and in the next 20 years juggled between Serie B and Serie C. They returned to Serie A in the 70s for a couple of years. Their longest stint in Serie A was from 1984 to 1989, a span of 5 seasons. In the 2016/17 season, Como went bankrupt for the 2nd time but in 2019  Djarum Group of Indonesia purchased them.

Fabregas will become the 2nd highest valued player at £2.25m. However, their most valued player ever is also a current member of the squad, the centre-forward 30-year-old Leonardo Mancuso valued at £2.43m.
