Chelsea FC and Juventus FC are planning a ‘sensational’ exchange deal. Amid the transfer rumours that Juventus want Chelsea’s no. 9, Romelu Lukaku, things have now taken an interesting turn. It’s now reported that Chelsea are also eyeing a move for Juventus’ no. 9, Dusan Vlahovic, to strengthen their attack. This situation can potentially lead to an exchange deal between both the clubs.
Lukaku, who was in talks for a permanent move to Inter, has reportedly ‘badly hurt’ the entire club with his links and considerations with a move to Juventus. The Inter ultras, fans and even the players have publicly expressed their disappointment over Lukaku’s acts. He recently rejected a ‘massive’ deal with Saudi side, Al-Hilal, which apparently makes Juventus his only option this summer.
On the other hand, Juve have been looking to sell Vlahovic for some time now. The former Florentina striker was brought by the Old Lady for a good amount of money but his performances, especially the last season was not good enough. This has led to the club looking to sell the 23 year old and move on.
What is Chelsea’s current situation?
Chelsea have had busy summer in the transfer market. At total of 14 players have left the Blues this summer so far, which leaves a void in the team that needs to be filled, especially in their attack. They have signed Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, who had a strong start to their new club with impressive performances in the pre-season, but that is not enough. A clinical striker is what Chelsea exactly are in need of. They bought Lukaku in 2021 for the exact same reason, but it didn’t work out.
They now turn their attention towards Vlahovic, who possess the qualities that you find in a world class striker. Strong, a good play maker and a great threat in the box. He can be a great asset with the set pieces as well. Under Pochettino, Vlahovic can have a very impactful role. We can see him play in a similar role as Harry Kane did when Mauricio was Tottenham’s manager.
Can an exchange deal be really on the table?
With both the clubs interested in each other’s strikers, a swap deal could well and truly be in place. According to ESPN, Juventus will be accepting a deal worth €45 million, €35 million + €15 million add-ons along with Romelu Lukaku in exchange of their talisman Dusan Vlahovic. Chelsea have made Vlahovic a top transfer priority to bring in this summer, along with their strong attempts to sign Caicedo from Brighton. Juventus have to also strengthen their attack this summer, following their attacking departures this summer. With less than 10 days left for the 2023/24 to start, both clubs will be looking to get an agreement in the place as soon as possible.
