Chelsea are looking favorites to sign £80m Toney from Brentford as per reports. The player is also keen on his move to Stamford Bridge. This is according to a report by journalist Dean Jones. He has recently told GiveMeSport that Ivan Toney is interested in joining Chelsea. The Blues are also planning to land a deal for the England International. Chelsea have been heavily linked with the 27-year old as they want him to be their centre-forward option. Last month, the Evening Standard reported that Chelsea and Arsenal are weighing up moves for Toney, who could cost up to £80m.
Dean Jones on Toney potentially joining Chelsea, has said:
“Brentford have been great for him, but he knows that he’s capable of playing somewhere bigger than that.
“So I think that Chelsea clearly is a club that have interest in him and I think that he’s interested in that too. I’d say there’s probably the highest chance of it happening as we stand right now.”
Moreover, Chelsea are already struggling in the Premier League this season. Still, they are looking at the driving seat to sign Ivan Toney. However, competition from Arsenal may complicate the deal especially under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. After beating Manchester City recently, they are looking for another title charge. However, until the transfer window opens, Mauricio will have to rely on Jackson and Broja, who have reminded their manager of what they can do in Chelsea’s last two fixtures against Burnley and Fulham.
