Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby for quite some time. However, they are not alone in their pursual. Chelsea have emerged as a contender for the sign of Moussa Diaby as well. Newcastle and Manchester City have also expressed an interest in signing the player as well. It is said that the Frenchman is keen to go to a club that can offer Champions League football.
Chelsea brought in Raheem Sterling and Aubameyang as reinforcements to the attack in this transfer window. Moreover, they have let many strikers leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku have left Chelsea to join RB Leipzig and Inter Milan respectively. Diaby is the ideal target for Chelsea. He is just 23 years of age with a lot of potentials. Diaby scored 13 goals and had 12 assists in the Bundesliga last season in 32 games. This brilliant performance was instrumental in Leverkusen’s third-place finish in the Bundesliga. However, it must be said, it is not going to be easy for Chelsea to sign the player this summer. They have to play their cards right if they want to sign Diaby this summer
Chelsea sent scouts to watch Diaby
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Chelsea had sent scouts to watch Diaby in action in Leverkusen’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid. Newcastle, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham had also sent their scouts to watch the player. Leverkusen beat Atletico 2-0 and Diaby scored the second goal of the competition. Chelsea player Callum Hudson Odoi also was impressive in the game for Leverkusen. Hudson-Odoi is on loan at Leverkusen to get more game time after he failed to break into Chelsea’s starting eleven in the 2022-23 season
