Chelsea in Talks to Secure Everton Star as Toffees Seek Cash Injection

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea has renewed their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. And the player himself intends to depart from Goodison Park during this summer transfer window. Tavolieri states that Chelsea has restarted negotiations and is displaying a significant interest in signing Onana once again. After spending a year at Everton following his transfer from Lille last summer. The midfielder is reportedly open to the idea of leaving the club.

Everton, in addition to Onana’s willingness to leave, is also open to selling the player due to an urgent need for cash. They aim to generate a minimum of £55 million from his potential sale. Which would result in a significant profit compared to the €35 million they paid to acquire him last summer.

The article does not mention whether Chelsea would be willing to pay such a substantial amount. Considering their lavish spending during the previous two transfer windows. It is possible that Chelsea may opt to include players in any potential deal. As they are keen to reduce the size of their squad and lower the wage bill.

Chelsea and the Onana deal

This arrangement could be favorable for Everton, as they are in desperate need of reinforcements for Sean Dyche’s team. However, the financial necessity to balance their books would likely take precedence over their desire for additional players.

Chelsea has decided to end their interest in signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. The club had initially held talks with Inter in April regarding a potential deal, as they are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga, especially with Edouard Mendy’s expected departure.

With Chelsea shifting their focus away from Onana, Manchester United has emerged as the frontrunners to secure the services of the goalkeeper, who is estimated to cost around £50 million.

As previously mentioned, Chelsea now plans to pursue other goalkeeper targets instead. Some of the alternative options they are considering include Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, Gregor Kobel from Dortmund, and David Raya from Brentford.
