It looks like it will be a busy transfer window with most of the major clubs from the Premier League looking to strengthen their squad. Reports suggest that Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool are dipping in the transfer pool for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
Chelsea’s priority remains to be a striker, with them missing out on several opportunities due to a lack of goals. Tuchel must be happy with their clean sheet records but would know he needs to work on the other side of the pitch.
Reports also suggest he’s been given a £150 million transfer budget. Though every club would fight for the generational talent, Erling Haaland. Lautaro Martinez would seem a cheaper alternative to the Norwegian.
Martinez’s stats in Serie-A
Over the last two seasons, the 23-year-old has become a real threat in front of the goal. He’s scored 16 goals this season and provided 5 assists. His partnership in the final third with Romelu Lukaku has proven to be quite a feat. The duo along with the tactical brilliance of Antonio Conte made them the Serie-A champions this season.
Martinez has spoken about his contract renewals, both the parties have not decided upon the agreement yet. He remains hopeful but knows that the club is suffering financially. The Argentine spoke earlier this year about wanting to sign a new contract at San Siro.
“The contract renewal? We’re working on it, Inter at the moment is in a bit of financial difficulty but I am calm because the agreement can be found.”
Inter might have to sell their key players to raise funds as hinted by Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti. Chelsea is keeping tabs on Lautaro Martinez and is waiting to see out Inter Milan’s plan of action.
Lukaku has also intrigued Chelsea but it seems like either of the stars would need to be sold amongst their financial troubles.
