Chelsea looking to sign Axel Disasi from AS Monaco

Pochettino

Chelsea are interested in signing Disasi during the summer transfer window, as per RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins. Disasi, a centre-back, has emerged as a regular starter for Monaco after joining from Stade Reims in 2020.

However, Chelsea will face strong competition for his signature, with United also in the race. The 25-year-old’s impressive performances have caught the attention of Chelsea, who see Disasi as a potential reinforcement for their backline.

Disasi became a key figure in Monaco squad, featuring in 37 out of 38 Ligue 1 matches last season. While he still has two years left on his contract, Disasi has expressed his desire to move to other leagues.

United and Chelsea eyeing to sign Disasi this summer

Monaco is open to discussing a potential transfer fee of €40 million (£34 million) for Disasi. While Manchester United is currently ahead in the race, they are yet to make an offer. Erik ten Hag, the manager of Ajax, will also hold talks with the player. Meanwhile, Chelsea, who are facing the possible departure of Koulibaly, have expressed interest in Disasi. Chelsea’s pursuit of Disasi signifies their intention to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

Standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall, he possesses physicality and defensive prowess. Last season, he averaged 2.9 clearances, 2.6 aerial wins, and 1.5 interceptions per league game, making him a reliable presence at the heart of the defense. Moreover, he recorded three goals and three assists in Ligue 1, showcasing his ability to impact the game in the attacking third.

Given his well-rounded skill set, signing Disasi would be a straightforward decision for Chelsea if the opportunity arises. Arsenal and Manchester United are also in the race but as far as it stands, bidding war will be between Manchester United and Chelsea.
