Chelsea have completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. He is due to undergo his medical on Sunday.

The Belgian had previously insisted that he was content at the San Siro. However, Chelsea were able to lure him back to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £97,500,00 for the 2021-22 campaign.

Chelsea will offer Lukaku a staggering £11,000,000 per year. Thomas Tuchel’s side will have Lukaku penning down a contract stretching 5 years.

How will Lukaku fit in the Chelsea squad

Chelsea signed Lukaku from Anderlecht at 18 years old in 2011. He was sold to Everton for £28,000,000 in 2014 after he made just 15 senior appearances for the Blues.

The Pensioners tried to re-sign Lukaku in 2017, but he chose move to Manchester United for £75,000,000. He stayed at Old Trafford for two years before signing for Italian giants Inter Milan for £73,000,000.

Lukaku claimed to be happy in the Serie A with Inter. Nonetheless, the Champions League winners were able to convince the forward to make a return and don a Blues jersey.

Lukaku’s medical will take place in Belgium on Sunday. The 28-year-old striker should then land in the English capital a day later.

The Belgian leaves Inter Milan having scored 64 times in 95 appearances for the Nerazzurri across all competitions. He bagged another 24 in 36 Serie A games during the club’s title-winning season in 2020-21.

This transfer could see a knock-on effect in the transfer market. Chelsea have acquired Lukaku and Manchester City are on the prowl for Harry Kane. Manchester United would now face lesser challengers in any possible bid to grab Erling Haaland next summer.

The Norwegian striker is not expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. At the same time, Manchester United are currently focusing on making sales. However, they are yet to make a significant sale with under a month left for the transfer window.
