Graham Potter has three objectives to achieve in his first season with Chelsea

Graham Potter took over the reins after Thomas Tuchel‘s sacking by the new owners. Potter was handed a five-year deal worth £50 million to take the reigns of the club. Chelsea are now sixth in the league which is of no great cause of concern this early to the season. However, Chelsea have lacked the cutting edge and have conceded a goal in every game so far. Hence, the new owners thought it was time for a breath of fresh air at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel is the past and Graham Potter is the future of Chelsea. According to a report by the Metro, the Chelsea owners want Potter to achieve three major targets in his tenure. The first is a top-four finish in the league and the second; is a deep run in the Champions League. However, Potter won’t be axed if he fails to achieve any of his first two targets. The Chelsea owners will not terminate his contract if he can achieve his third target. The third target is to improve the performance of the club and forge a new philosophy within the club. Moreover, if Potter can achieve this third aim, he will be backed fully by the owners. The owners will give Graham Potter the time and financial backing necessary to build a dominant team.

Chelsea takes on Crystal Palace on Saturday. This will be Potter’s first Premier League match with Chelsea. The first match of Graham Potter was the 1-1 draw with Salzburg in the Champions League. However, Graham Potter will be hoping that come Saturday, he will get his first victory with the Blues
