In the summer transfer window, Chelsea has moved first to acquire forward Victor Osimhen from Napoli. Agreeing to pay the Serie A team €120 million. The 25-year-old has been linked to Liverpool since October 2023. When a report claimed the Reds and Osimhen had worked out a personal terms agreement.

Sport Witness quoted Valter De Maggio as saying to Televomero, “There was the inclusion of another club, from the Premier League. I am referring to Liverpool.

There would be frequent contacts, but I just learned something else: there would be agreements already reached.

Let me clarify: the agreements would be between the reds and the player; therefore they would not involve Napoli. I hope Laurentiis will be able to keep Victor Osimhen at least until June, but we can’t be sure.”

However, this proved to be false despite genuine Liverpool interest.

Despite FFP pressure, Chelsea is making a bold move to sign Osimhen

The American owner, Todd Boehly, 50, has spent more than £1 billion on transfer fees since taking over from Roman Abramovich. And he may spend even more.

Even though the London club has discovered “contract loopholes” that could increase if they spend as much as is being reported. They are still under pressure to fulfill their FFP obligations.

Chelsea is willing to fulfill Osimhen s contract’s €120 million release clause, according to Il Mattino, an Italian newspaper, via Calcio Napoli.

They want to sign Osimhen in the summer transfer window and one thing is certain at this stage, Liverpool will not be competing with them on this one.
