Clinton Morrison was ‘surprised’ at Liverpool not signing this midfielder

Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison says he was ‘surprised’ that Liverpool did not sign James Ward-Prowse. The English International secured a move to West Ham United with an ease in this summer window. Moreover, after eight Premier League games, he is even looking as one of the best signing for the Hammers. During the summer, midfield players were quite dominant among the top clubs who were breaking banks for the players. Liverpool bought four new faces to the Merseyside in midfield as well. Though, Morrison thinks Ward-Prowse had all the qualities to be a part of the Merseyside club.

During a talk, Morrison told Sky Sports News,

“You can talk about his free-kicks and set-pieces, which is brilliant because it can get you like 10-15 goals a season, but he has got more than that. You saw that he is running beyond Michail Antonio. He can pass the ball. He can do everything a midfielder can do.”

I was surprised West Ham got him for such a cheap price because I thought there would be a lot of other teams, like Liverpool, in the market for him – but he has gone to West Ham and he has started the season ever so well.”

Meanwhile, club football has taken a halt following the International break. Though, James Ward-Prowse is not included in the England squad for the upcoming games which is a big surprise. Furthermore, players like Kalvin Phillips, who barely got minutes for his club, is picked up for the upcoming International break.
