Shreyas Iyer continued his merry form in the ODI format. Iyer scored yet another half-century for the country. He scored his fifty off just 37 balls and was sadly dismissed on a short ball while trying to up the ante. It was a very tame end to what was a very breathtaking inning.
Batting of the highest caliber
He came in to bat when the team was under pressure. India lost quick wickets and the required run rate was creeping above 8. Batting away from his favorite position number 4, he came in at number 5. The inning was of a pure class filled with classy strokes.
Iyer was very aggressive against Shamsi. He punished him even on good deliveries. He scored a hattrick of boundaries against him in his fourth over. His inning was filled with intent and positive stroke-making. The Mumbai lad scored 8 boundaries in his stay at the crease. Iyer would have liked to carry on and convert it into a big one. He got out at the wrong time just when the momentum was shifting toward India.

Shreyas Iyer has scored 4 fifties in his last 5 innings. He scored 40 in one of the matches. Iyer has been in sublime form for India. He is knocking on the door for a regular place on the Indian side. He has performed every time he has been given an opportunity. If he overcomes his short ball issue, he would be adamant to dismiss.
Shreyas will travel to Australia after this series as a backup batsman in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
