David Moyes is spot on by selling Frederick Alves for £1m

West Ham United boss David Moyes, is spot on by selling Frederick Alves for £1m to Danish club Brondby. The Hammers signed the centre-back from Silkeborg for just £1m in January 2021. However, the 23-year old centre-back did not play a single game for the senior team of West Ham. Eventually, Moyes secured a move for 1m for him a year later for the same fee.

Alves certainly had talent. During his loan spell at Sunderland, the then manager of the Black Cats said him to be an ‘absolute class‘. Despite this, the young centre-half was not up to the mark to make it in the first team of West Ham. He now plays in his homeland, that itself is a proof that no other big clubs came looking for him.

David Moyes was spot on for Alves

Frederick Alves is now with Brondby since 18 months. Frederick was too far lightweight for the Premier League and Moyes was well aware of this fact. Eventually, Alves was sold in January 2022. At that time, £1m seems like a small fee for a player with such potential. Few journalists thought Alves to be a ‘real deal, in his youth team days for Hammers.

Considering the fact that no other big club has made a contact for Frederick, it seems that Moyes has got a spot on move by making a transfer move for the young Denmark International. The Scot has proved it yet again that he knows more than any average armchair football fan or journalist.
