Arsenal have been linked with Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, but he plans to stay in Italy and play in Seria-A further.
According to 90mins, Gunners were monitoring the 23-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window in May. Arteta’s side will bring reinforcement to maintain their good rhythm next season.
But, Frattesi have now ruled out the move and claimed that he would love to stay in Italy. The midfielder said :-
“Bid from Premier League? I told Sassuolo that honestly I don’t feel that’s the best step for me now. I’m not ready to go abroad yet.
“I’d rather stay in Serie A — my priority is to continue in Italy, Sassuolo are now also informed”.
Any non-italian clubs will now cool their interest for Frattesi, but he was open to a Premier move, a year ago. However, Italian clubs will now be in pole position to sign Frattesi this summer.
Scouted Football wrote about Frattesi last year :-
“English pundits would love to commentate on Frattesi’s matches.
“He brings pace, power, passion and desire to the game, and has been a consistent performer that rarely puts in bad shift.
“He’s a big-bodied midfielder that throws his weight around, bruises the opposition and seeks to dominate within his sphere of influence.
“He looks like a nightmare to play against as he constantly snaps at heels of his direct opponent in attempts to win back possession.
“And he is quick too, regularly demonstrating great recovery speed that makes him a very valuable asset when defending in transition – an important virtue in a ball-dominant team that wants to defend high up the pitch.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal will be little disappointed, as Frattesi would have been great signing for them. The Italian doesn’t fancy the PL as things stand.
