Eddie Howe left amazed by the performance of Lewis Miley whom he wanted to bench

Newcastle United

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe was surprised by the display of his man Lewis Miley. Howe was thinking to rest Miley for the clash against Fulham. Though, it was Lewis who opens the scoring for the Magpies against Fulham. He came as a substitute for Joelinton in the first-half at St James Park. The Magpies are well-struck by injuries giving game-time to every player almost.

Lewis Miley has been a revelation for Newcastle this season. The youngster is capitalising on the opportunity coming to him due to injuries of other senior members. Moreover, the game against Fulham is clearly an evidence for it too. Eddie Howe told BBC Sport after the game that,

“He’s come into the team and been magnificent. He’s deserved to keep his place. We wanted to rest him today, someone so young, and today he got his rewards. His overall performance level has been so high.

Players were fatigued today. You could see we were trying to manage our load. I’m so pleased with the players.

The emotional load is just as important as the physical load. We have a couple of big players coming back who can make a big difference for us.”

Although, Howe’s demands from the young man are too high at such age but he is delivering them too. He was also a starter in a huge clash with AC Milan in Champions League. The youngster will only get better from here. Though, returns of senior players will see him being sidelined more often later on. But what he is doing is already making him a cult hero of the Premier League. He also got a reward against Fulham as his first goal for the club.
