Midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe wants to continue at Arsenal and has admitted that he wants to play under guidance of Mikel Arteta next season.

Speaking to Football.London, the 22-year-old opened about his struggle at the North-London club last season. Before the last campaign, Smith-Rowe was a key man of Arteta.

Last Season, Smith-Rowe picked up an injury at Old Trafford in September, which kept him sidelined until the new year.

However, Smith-Rowe is now confident he’ll get a more prominent role for Arteta’s side next season. The midfielder now feels fresh to start a new campaign.

After defeat to Manchester United in the pre-season friendly, Emile Smith-Rowe claims that last season was a difficult one for him. He said:-

“I am feeling good, it’s good to be back with the boys, back on the pitch with my team-mates,” he said. “My ambition is to get some more minutes this season and push on.

“Last year was really hard for me, so I just want to kick on now and prove that I can play for this club. It was really tough because I had surgery twice, so it was really hard. But my family, friends and the club helped me a lot to get through it. I’m just really happy to be pain free right now and get fit.

“This was my first time having surgery, so it was a really hard decision to take but I went for it. I’m happy that I don’t feel anything there anymore. I am really happy to be fully fine now.”

Smith-Rowe has fallen down the pecking order in last few years due to exceptional performance from his other teammates. He needs to show is quality to force his way into Arteta’s plan next season.
