Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea are going to find it difficult to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia in the next transfer window. Southampton signed the teenager this summer from Manchester City. The 18- year old had quickly made it into the starting XI of the Southampton squad. Though this was interrupted due to his hamstring injury. According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have shortlisted the teenager as a potential signing for the squad. Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano have also commented on this rumor.

Fabrizio Romano on Chelsea’s interest to sign the player

According to Romano, it is not going to be easy for the Blues to sign the youngster this winter window. The signing could possibly take place in the summer. While talking to GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano commented,

“So now to bring in also Roméo Lavia from the same club could be something not so easy,”

adding further he said,

“So, my expectation is that in January is not going to be an easy one [for Chelsea] for Roméo Lavia, maybe in the summer.”

Apparently, the Blues had already tried to sign Lavia last summer but couldn’t do so. So, it is no surprise to see Lavia linked with the club again.

Chelsea’s interest in the player

The Belgian player is vibrant in the midfield and it would make sense for Chelsea to try and sign him. With the contracts of players like N’Golo Kante and Jorginho expiring this summer, Chelsea would look to sign new players for the midfield position. Though, it would be wise on Chelsea’s part to keep a close eye on the player for the second half of the season before any decisions.
