Fabrizio Romano suggests that Tottenham’s path to secure the English midfielder is clearer now

Journalist Fabrizio Romano suggests that Tottenham Hotspur now have a clearer path to sign Kalvin Phillips. Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported that Tottenham had set their sights on Phillips. Moreover, the Englishman is also speculating ways to part ways with Man City for more game time. Spurs are also keen on the transfer as their players Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr will be heading to AFCON championship in January. Besides this, Hojbjerg’s future with the COYS is also under black clouds this winter. The Dane was previously linked with Manchester United, Fulham and Atletico Madrid in summer.

Even though he managed to stay in North London, he is yet to get significant match time under Postecoglou. Some reports also suggest that the Danish international is willing a move from Tottenham. Now, Fabrizio’s comments suggest that Phillips will be a good option for Ange’s brigade.

“I don’t know the exact name of the midfielder that they’re (Juve) after yet, it’s too early.

Kalvin Phillips, Thomas Partey and other names being spoken about are too defensive.

Juve actually want an offensive midfielder and it has to be a cheap deal, they’re not spending crazy money.”

Phillips joined Man City from Leeds United for around £45million two years back. However, he is struggling for game time since then. Even though he won the treble, the midfielder must rethink of his future with the club. He must prove himself on the field if he wants to make it to the England squad in Euro 2024. Despite Romano’s comments on the pursuit of the midfielder, Tottenham will have to face some tough competition from some other Premier League clubs.
