Ex-Premier League superstar Rio Ferdinand claims that Manchester City star will be a top signing. Ferdinand backs City star Josko Gvardiol to be a top potential. Moreover, starting 13 out of 19 games shows that the manager has trust on his new signing. Though, Gary Neville claimed that City sold a better player than him for Aymeric Laporte. Besides this, he was criticized for not performing up to his market value and the new club. However, former Manchester United icon believe that the Croatian has the calibre of becoming a top player. Speaking in FIVE’s YouTube channel he said,
“And [Josko] Gvardiol, wait, you can understand why they signed Gvardiol. Top potential. But he’s playing left-back, he’s obviously a centre-half. He has played left-back actually for Croatia quite often but it takes some time to adapt. He’s going to need some adaptation time.
But what we have to appreciate with all players Man City sign, there is an adaptation time because there’s so much information to take on. I think Gvardiol and [Jeremy] Doku will become proper players for City.”
Adapting to a new position in a different league during his debut season is fair to say that most youngsters would take time to find their feet. The ex-Leipzig man is also no different from this. However, people at the camp believe that he has all the essential minerals to be the top player in the upcoming future. Even Ferdinand faced the same hype and pressure during his first season at Old Trafford. However, Rio Ferdinand managed to silence his critics, which Josko Gvardiol should be inspired to do as well.
