Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes has shared his views on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Scholes has asked Arteta to concentrate and take the responsibility of the loss. The Gunners manager described the VAR as a “disgrace” following a controversial defeat against Newcastle United. The game ended 1-0 at St James Park. The only goal of the match was assisted by Anthony Gordon. Though, it was a bit arguable whether the ball was in play before Gordon’s cross for goal. The VAR checked for three possible issues – foul, offside and if the ball was out of play. However, the goal stood and Arsenal were handed their first defeat of this Premier League season.

Paul Scholes, speaking to TNT Sports, told what he makes out of Arteta’s comments. He said,

“Mikel Arteta’s one of the most emotional managers out there. I think he’ll probably look back and think I overreacted slightly – or a little bit more than slightly.

I always associate Arsenal with having class. Class football club, class people running the place. This has left a sour taste – a bad taste in your mouth, that someone like Arsenal can do this. The manager has to take responsibility for it.”

Besides the controversial assist, there were other moments as well in the game that were a bit dodgy. Nearing the end of the first half, Havertz went heavily on Longstaff. Following this, the Magpies’ player Bruno Guimares appeared to catch Jorginho with his elbow. Though, both of the players avoided the red cards. Arsenal will try to get back to their winning ways this midweek against Sevilla at home in UEFA Champions League.
