Former Portuguese footballer opens about his life after prison

Former Portuguese footballer Fabio Paim opens about his after getting into prison for possessing of 5 grams of cocaine with him.

Paim by scouted by Portuguese outfit Sporting CP at the age of nine and joined the academy with likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was three years older than him. At the tender age of 13, he earned a hefty amount of £327,000 due to brilliant progression.

As per reports He and Ronaldo used to go the McDonald’s to eat the leftover every might after the training. The pair built a brilliant relation on the pitch as Cristiano praised him former teammate after joining Manchester United in 2003 and said :-

“If you think I’m good, just wait until you see Fabio Paim.”

Despite his high potential, Paim didn’t live up to the expectations and couldn’t establish himself at the club.

However, Paim ended up in prison in 2019 due to carrying an illegal substance. He was held for 12 months on suspicion of drug trafficking for being in possession of 5g of cocaine.

Paim opened about his life at prison

Paim opened about his life at Prison and said :-

“The prison I was in is next to the field where the Portugal national team performs so I could watch them training every day for the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

“I was there for a reason and I never thought, ‘Ah, Cristiano is there. I should be there too.

“My life is calmer now. I’m sure I will make some more mistakes because I am human,” he continued.

“Prison was not a place for a boy like me.

“I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. It was my choice, it was my mistake. But I needed the comfort and support that only family can give you. Family is the most important thing.”

Paim also stated that he was special but he could get the recognition he deserved. He said :-

“I was really special.

“I must be humble but this is the truth.

“Unfortunately back then there was not Instagram or Facebook, nothing was recorded like nowadays, but I strongly and honestly believe that until today there was no other like me with the same quality I had.”
