Gabriel Agbonlahor claims that Arsenal left their goalkeeper to become one of the best in the world

Gabriel Agbonlahor claims that Arsenal left their ex-goalkeeper Emi Martinez who is now one of the best. Aston Villa secured a move for Emi from Arsenal for just £17m in 2019-20 season. The Argentine is now one of the best goalkeepers on the planet. The Gunners replaced him with the like of German goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Nevertheless, Emi Martinez has been a sensation after leaving Arsenal back in March 2020. The Argentine lifted the World Cup and scooped the Yashin Trophy. Moreover, he also won FIFA best men’s goalkeeper award as well this year. Speaking on talkSPORT, Gabriel lauded the Argentine’s display against Tottenham on Sunday. He said on his impact in the game that,

“I actually said a few weeks ago that he is the best goalkeeper in the world and everyone was like how? Him, him, him.

But he’s won the World Cup, the form he had at the World Cup, the form he’s had since he joined Aston Villa. Not just in the last year, outstanding.

There was a save he made yesterday from Hojbjerg, where some keepers let that in because they haven’t got the size of Martinez and he’s so good with his feet as well.”

The 31-year old is one of the best shot savers in the current world football. Furthermore, his trophies are also an evidence of his talent over the past few years. He was phenomenal in Qatar last year lifting the best trophy that there is. Though, a compliment from someone like Agbonlahor is huge in itself. Meanwhile, Arsenal are still figuring out their no,1 choice keeper’s problem. They may have some regret of loosing Emi owing to his form in the recent days.
