Barcelona starlet Gavi recently spoke to the media and expressed his happiness at the transfer business of the club this summer.
Gave burst onto the scene last season. He was one of the bright spots in a rather dismal season for the Catalans. They started off the season after losing Lionel Messi on a free transfer and struggled in La Liga. Their fortunes in Europe were even worse. Losses to Bayern Munich and Benefica resulted in the Blaugrana getting relegated to the Europa League.
Ronald Koeman was sacked midway, and in came former midfielder Xavi Hernandez. His arrival brought about a change in fortunes as well. Although they finished the season without any silverware, Barcelona’s performances improved. A resounding 4-0 win in the Classico at the Bernabeu was a testament to it.
Gavi remained a consistent performer under both the coaches. The 17-year-old even got a call up to the Spanish national team, where he put a superb performance against Italy.
Barcelona will hope that they do not have a similar fate as the previous season. They have strengthened significantly, adding Robert Lewandowski and Raphinia to their ranks. Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie were signed on a free, while Ousmane Dembele extended his contract. They continue to remain in talks with Sevilla for Jules Kounde as well.
Gavi On The New Signings
Gavi feels optimistic after these additions. He expressed his excitement for the new season in an interview with Marca.
I am happy to be on the tour with the team. I was looking forward to it after the international break. We are in top form. I’m the first one to be excited about this team and the fans have to be, too.
We have made some good signings. They have already played and have done well. Let us hope we continue in this vein. I’m just as excited as I was in my first season, but with more experience. I hope it will a nice and fun season for our entire team
Gavi to Marca
Culers will hope that their team can get back to winning ways soon. Gavi will play a huge role in it, and fans will be eager to see the teenager’s progress.
