Manchester United defender Harry Maguire reveals the reason why his move to West Ham United collapsed. The Hammers were interested in signing Harry Maguire this summer. Moreover, David Moyes was also keen on landing the Englishman to his squad for getting defensive options. Though, the deal could not happen with West Ham pulling out the talks. The Guardian claimed that West Ham were tired of waiting for Maguire to finalise his decision with United. They instead signed Konstatinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart. Moreover, Edson Alvarez, their new signing, can play in the central defensive role as well.

Maguire stayed at United but is struggling to get minutes under Erik Ten Hag. The defender started only in the last game against Brentford resulting 2-1 victory. Though, he was on the top of his game against the Bees. Maguire has also retained his place in the England National team. Now, ahead of match with Australia, Maguire has told the reason for his failed move to West Ham. He told via Metro,

“Regular game time is really important to me, it has been throughout all my career.”

“The actual opportunity to go to West Ham wasn’t really agreed between both clubs and myself, so it wasn’t just my chance to say ‘yes’ and I’m going.

“The actual opportunity wasn’t there because we didn’t get far enough down the line with it. West Ham are a massive club, my focus is still on Manchester United. I want to fight for my place but, of course, game time is really important to me.”
