Sourav Ganguly has backed the current Indian white ball vice-captain of the Indian team to play test cricket. He also said that Hardik Pandya is an asset in test cricket also. He lastly played test cricket in England in 2018. The allrounder took a long break in 2021 and returned to competitive cricket through Indian Premier League.
Sourav Ganguly on Hardik Pandya
“There will be specialists in T20s. There’s Hardik Pandya although I still feel he is an asset in Test cricket also and he should come back to Test cricket because that’s what he will be remembered for. He is a specialist in ODIs and T20Is. But he is a very special cricketer,”
He further added on Hardik Pandya that
“Good players adjust in all formats. India has so much talent that there will be some players common in all formats. That’s the way it should be. Because I feel rhythm in sport is very important. I don’t think the selectors do it that way with whatever my experience was in the BCCI,”
In his comeback season, he captained the Gujarat Titans Team. He surprised everyone by bowling the new ball with 140 KPH. Hardik with the guidance of coach Nehra won the maiden title in 2022. The first match of the IPL is between Hardik lead Gujrat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
Pandya has played 107 matches to date in his IPL career and has scored 1963 runs, with an average of 30.20. He has also slammed 8 half-centuries, with his highest IPL score being 91 runs.
