ICC Media Rights: Contenders worried over the lack of India-Pakistan clashes

The ICC Media Rights has become stuck in a bog of questions and clarifications.

Many Indian broadcasters have shown confusion over the four and eight-year bidding process.

While others are clamouring for the increase of India and Pakistan games in the ICC events.

The clash between the rival nations is a much sought-after contest in ICC events because bilateral series have completely dried up.

If the ICC does not keep India-Pakistan clashes even in global events, then it will be a huge blow, especially for Indian broadcasters.

Some of the other problems for the ICC is the tax withholding issue.

All the interested parties have time till the 15th of July to seek clarifications from the ICC after they purchase the ITT document.

One of the inside sources of the ICC revealed that the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup did not have an India-Pakistan clash in the first place.

This year, there is an India-Pakistan clash taking place at the MCG on the 23rd of October.

As regards the tax withholding issue, the Indian broadcasters want to be clear on who will be taking responsibility for the tax deductions.

With the issue of the four and eight-year bids, the ICC has made it mandatory for all parties to bid for a four-year period. They will then have the option of bidding for eight years as well. It will be up to the parties to decide.

All the parties will be submitting the bids by August 22 after which they will be opened on August 26.

The successful bidders will be announced by the ICC in early September.
