In Chennai,India suffered a narrow defeat to Australia in the third ODI, resulting in rare series loss at home. Although they won the first match in Mumbai, the hosts faced a strong comeback from Australia. During the second ODI, Mitchell Starc dismantled the Indian batting order, dismissing them for a mere 117 runs. In the final match, India’s lower-middle order collapsed under the pressure of chasing a target of 270 runs.

Australia made a strong start to their innings after opting to bat, but all-rounder Hardik Pandya brought the hosts back into the game by taking three quick wickets. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav also delivered an impressive performance by taking three wickets. However, he gave away 56 runs in his 10 overs.

former India spinner made a revelation

On Twitter, a user suggested that Kuldeep didn’t bowl to the right field. He also compared his performance with Australian spinners Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar. The user also stated that Steve Smith had better fielding placements for his spinners. To seek his opinion, the user tagged former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. However, the former India star’s reply stunned everyone as he made a revelation.

“I offered my services to Rahul Dravid and he said that I was too senior to him ,to be working under him-with the spinners.” said Sivaramakrishnan.

Despite not having a long international career, Sivaramakrishnan, a former left-arm spinner, managed to take 154 wickets in 76 first-class matches. He represented India in 9 Tests and 16 ODI. After retiring from cricket, Sivaramakrishnan shifted to broadcasting and still remains on-air for most India games.

In the beginning of this month, Dravid enlisted the help of former leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule to work with the Indian spinners during the Test series. Currently, Paras Mhambrey is India’s bowling coach, having taken over from Bharat Arun in November 2021.
