According to reports, Spain national manager Luis Enrique is a ‘serious candidate’ for the Manchester United head coach role at the end of the season.

Manchester United have been on the lookout for a new permanent manager. The club sacked club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær midway through the season. The red devils had a very successful summer transfer window and the expectations were through the roof at Old Trafford. The team failed to pick up the pace at the start of the season. Ralf Rangnick was hired as the interim manager until the end of the season.

Ralf Rangnick looks set to move to an advisory role to the club’s hierarchy at the end of the season. The club have been linked with Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, and Roberto Mancini. Firstly, reports coming out of Old Trafford suggest that Ajax manager Erik ten Hag and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino are leading the race to become the next Manchester United manager at the end of the season. Secondly, the Manchester United faithful have their heart set on Erik ten Hag.

Luiz Enrique looked set to be out of the head coach race. In other words, the manager ruled out a move to Manchester United at the end of the season amid the World Cup next season. Spain were in the UEFA Nations League final. But Luiz Enrique’s side lost to France in the final. Moreover, The Spanish national team have an outsider’s chance at the World Cup.

Is Luis Enrique a good option for Manchester United?

Enrique is a very well reputed manager in European football. The Spanish manager lifted two La Liga titles and a Champions League with Spanish giants Barcelona. Above all, the manager has already ruled out a switch to Old Trafford at the end of the season. In conclusion, it will be very difficult for Manchester United to tempt Luis Enrique into quitting the Spain national job.
