Former Tottenham Hotspurs forward Jermain Defoe told he was shocked by a text from Arsenal star to him. Defoe got a text from Eddie Nketiah before the Premier League season start to get some tips. The 41-year old man is currently working as a manager for Tottenham academy. He said that Eddie messaged him about ‘movement’ and ‘finishing’. The 41-year-old added that he loved that from the Arsenal star because it proves that he ‘wants to learn’, as he told Premier League Productions. Moreover, Nketiah bagged a hat-trick against Sheffield United. It was a big moment for him as it was his first league goal since August.

“He actually messaged me on Instagram,” said Defoe.

“I thought it was a joke. Arsenal and Tottenham.

In pre-season, he messaged me on Instagram. He wanted to speak about finishing and movement, all that sort of stuff. I thought you know what, I like that because that’s a young centre forward that wants to try and get as much from other players that have played the game in that position as he can. Someone who wants to learn.

“He is a good finisher. When he gets chances. I believe he will score.”

It is considerable why he messaged Defoe. Both the men are similar in size and rely on explosive acceleration and movement in the final third. Moreover, that first goal against Sheffield was an example of that because of the first touch. It is something Defoe was seen doing for most of his career and if Nketiah could add this on a regular basis, he can net some big numbers in his career.
