Joan Laporta claims Tottenham should sign Clement Lenglet

Barcelona president Joan Laporta suggests that Tottenham Hotspur FC should sign defender Clement Lenglet this summer.

Speaking to La Vanguardia, Laporta was asked about the returning loanees. The Spaniard talked also about the full-back Clement Lenglet, who was sent to Tottenham on a loan deal last season. Former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte brought him to play in the left-side of his back-three.

Laporta was an admirer of the French International and labelled him as a very ‘good defender’. But Lenglet is not in his best form in last few seasons.

As per reports earlier, Tottenham were not planning to bring back Lenglet this summer, as he might not fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system. The Aussie manager prefers to play a traditional back-four.

However, now fresh reports suggests that the French full-back has agreed personal terms with Spurs. Lenglet might join the North-london club this summer.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta also believes the fact that Lenglet will a great signing for Spurs. When he was asked that Barcelona’s returning loanees and will wage bill will impact in this transfer window, he replied:-

“I think that with Tottenham we will reach an agreement for Lenglet.

“We are also missing Dest. This almost never goes quickly.

“It depends on the other side. For us, they are all cases that would have been solved yesterday.”

Lenglet possesses brilliant ball playing quality which could suit Postecoglou’s style of play at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium near season. Spurs will be hoping to re-shape their defense this summer.
