Jose Mourinho sends a fresh message to Manchester United management

Former manager Jose Mourinho sends a fresh message to Manchester United management and squad. Mourinho was in-charge of United in the last decade. Moreover, he was the last manager to win them a European Championship in 2017. The Portuguese has warned the Red Devils about their current squad. He believes the team still has a few players whom he considered not good enough to help the club win trophies.

The Glazers bought in Mourinho after sacking Louis Van Gaal in 2016 after he made them win FA Cup. Although his side ended up on sixth place, it marked three silverwares for the club. The Community Shield, FA Cup and a first-ever Europa League trophy made the campaign a success. During his second season, United were runner-up of FA Cup and second to centurion Manchester City in the league, an achievement he describes as the best in his career.

Speaking to his former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel on on The Obi One Podcast, Mourinho says the struggles of United are due to the squad make-up. He said,

“There are still people in that club, and when I say people I mean some players but also some other people that are not players, that are still there when I told [United] after two months: With these people, you are never going to do it. And they are still there.

At Man United, I changed a player at half-time…his agent was then accusing me of bullying. I had to change. I remember these times, and I laugh about these times, but it’s different times.”

Jose Mourinho is currently the manager of Italian club AS Roma where he is working with his former striker Romelu Lukaku.
