Juventus Eye Aymeric Laporte as Key Defensive Reinforcement

Juventus has set its sights on Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte as a potential addition to their squad in the summer transfer window. Laporte’s versatility, as both a center-back and a left-back, makes him an attractive target for Juventus. The club’s new director, Cristiano Giuntoli, has prioritized Laporte as the ideal candidate to bolster their defense.

Juventus Pursues Laporte

The Old Lady has identified Aymeric Laporte as their top target to strengthen their defense. The Spanish international possesses the desired profile and qualities sought by the Italian club, especially as a left-footed center-back. Laporte’s experience at the highest level and his age align with Juventus’ requirements. The club’s aging defense, coupled with the departure of Giorgio Chiellini, creates a need for a player of Laporte’s caliber.

Nevertheless, Juventus would need to create space in their squad to accommodate Laporte’s arrival. The club has mentioned Gleison Bremer as a possible player to offload, as they have yet to receive attractive offers for other assets like Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa. However, parting ways with star defender Leonardo Bonucci or left-back Alex Sandro would be more financially beneficial. Although the transfer fees for either player may not be substantial, their departures would provide significant wage bill relief for Juventus.

Negotiations and Transfer Conditions

While Juventus hopes for an initial loan deal with an option to buy, Manchester City has made it clear that they will only consider a permanent transfer for Laporte. The defender’s current valuation stands at approximately €30 million. The Turin club is convinced that Manchester City may accept their conditions for a deal in this window. However, considering Laporte’s contract will expire in 2025. Whether an agreement can be reached remains to be seen.
