Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly was recently voted as a better player than AC Milan‘s Fikayo Tomori. A poll by GOAL concluded that Kalidou Koulibaly was a better player than Fikayo Tomori. Chelsea had sold Tomori last year after his successful loan spell ended with the current Serie A champions. This season was Tomori’s first season to prove to Chelsea what they had lost. However, the player was very unfortunate with that. The player hardly took up the opportunity to the maximum level. AC Milan met Chelsea in two consecutive Champions League matches. Chelsea was without a win in the first two group matches under new manager Graham Potter. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had made things a bit difficult for the AC Milan player. A foul on Mason Mount caused Tomori to be sent off in the reverse fixture.
Kalidou Koulibaly is better than Fikayo Tomori
Despite Fikayo Tomori’s performances, he still ranks as number 42 in GOAL’s fan-voted list. Tomori was placed three ranks lower than Kalidou Koulibaly. Kalidou Koulibaly is still settling into the Premier League after he joined Chelsea from Napoli in the summer. The player had a difficult start at Chelsea after his transfer in the summer. However, the player have since proved why he was rated highly in the Serie A. Koulibaly enjoyed a positive World Cup performance with his national team. He will continue to take this confidence in the second half of the Premier League season.
Fans are hopeful that Kalidou Koulibaly would eventually be able to take over the role of Thiago Silva when he eventually leaves the club. The Brazilian always looked very calm and composed on the ball. The player will have to take charge of the Chelsea defense in near future after Thiago Silva. Koulibaly will improve with time to fill in that role. Reports also suggest that Chelsea are pushing hard to sign RB Leipzig‘s Josko Gvardiol for the left-center back role.
