Liverpool have been struggling this season as they sit sixth in the Premier League table. Liverpool will be looking to invest in a new player this coming transfer window. According to reporter Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are interested in the PSV player Cody Gakpo. Liverpool already has a world-class forward line with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Luis Diaz as such. The 23-year-old was called ‘special’ by Fabrizio Romano. Gakpo has been the headline maker at both Netherlands matches at the World Cup.

Liverpool to keep an eye on Gakpo

Gakpo is one of the growing talents in Europe right now, with the Dutchman having an equal number of goal contributions as Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland. Cody Gakpo has 9 goals and 12 assists this season in the  Eindhoven so far. Jacobs has tweeted about Liverpool’s interest in the player, stating:

“Cody Gakpo has been directly involved in 34 goals in 28 games for club and country this season. He’s scored 16 and assisted 18. He’s firmly on the radar of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.”

Liverpool’s new signing Nunez have not been a flop per se, having scored 9 goals in 18 matches. Fans can expect this record to improve with the Dutch player playing alongside him.

Gakpo to Premier League

With all things considered, being able to add Gakpo to the squad will be a big coup for the Reds. But they will have to compete with top clubs like Arsenal, and Manchester United as they are also interested to bring in the Dutchman to their squad. It will not be easy for the Reds to try and sign the Netherlands international if they fail to improve in the season.
