Liverpool finally out of the race for Sofyan Amrabat this summer

After showing interest in him from January, Liverpool are finally out of the race for Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

However, as reports suggest Manchester United are in pole position to sign Amrabat this summer. After signing Mason Mount, Red Devils are now looking to add a new midfielder in their ranks in this transfer window.

Manager Eric Ten Hag needs a cover for Casemiro this season and Amrabat looks like a suitable option. However, Fabrizio Romano claims that the Moroccan international is in transfer list of top clubs in Europe.

Romano claims Liverpool no longer needs Amrabat

Liverpool were looking to hijack the deal but after signing Wataru Endo this summer, Reds are withdrawing their interest. Romano no longers expects the Mersyside club to join the race to sign the 27-year-old.

Speaking on the DeBrief podcast, the Italian said :-

“The only thing that happened with Liverpool was last week, before signing Endo.

Reds had contact with the camp of Sofyan Amrabat to ask for information so how the player would cost on Fiorentina’s side. Terms of the contract are discussed among all the conditions of the deal. It was a good conversation but then internally, Liverpool decided to invest that money on Endo for multiple reasons.

“So I think, from what I am hearing at the moment. They are not in contact with Fiorentina or on the player’s side anymore so I don’t see Amrabat joining Liverpool.

“I still think he has a very good chance to leave the club in the final days of the window but not for Liverpool.”
