Liverpool inspected about Kalvin Phillips – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester City

Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool recently inspected about the possibility of signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

After adding three new midfielders this summer, Reds’ recruitment continues to bolster their middle of the park. City’s Kalvin Phillips have emerged as a possible option for the Mersyside club in this transfer window.

According to Kick, Romano shared the latest update about Phillips. The 27-year-old joined Manchester City last summer from Leeds United for £50 million plus add-ons.

Phillips was viewed as a nice aquisition by Guardiola and Co, but he featured very less in last campaign for Citizens across all competitions. Hence, the England International might leave the Etihad this summer to find proper game-time on the pitch.

And, Romano also claims that Liverpool enquired about Phillips. The Italian said :-

“Liverpool started the conversation to be informed on the situation of another player, who is Kalvin Phillips.

“It’s true that Liverpool asked about the situation of Kalvin Phillips because the priority of the player has always been to stay at Manchester City and fight for his place at City.

“But then, at the moment, there is no concrete negotiation club to club.”

Phillips would an interesting addition to Liverpool roster this summer. The midfielder has proven his worth previously for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa.

He has already proven his worth for club and country in last few years. However, under a manager like Jurgen Klopp, Phillips can ever get better.

Displacing Rodri in Manchester City lineup is next to important thing for Phillips currently. Hence, he might find another suitable club for regular game-time across all competitions.
