Liverpool star to miss the upcoming Qatar World Cup

Another Liverpool star is set to miss the upcoming Qatar World Cup. Liverpool center back Joe Gomez was not included in the England squad going for the World Cup. The Englishman had been a vital player for the Liverpool side in the 2019-20 season’s consecutive victories. Although, dominant performances have really been infrequent for the last couple of years for the English player. His inconsistency this season could be one of the main reasons why England coach Southgate went for the other six center backs available.

Liverpool manager’s outburst shows the reason for this World cup snub

Joe Gomez have been showing a bit of inconsistency this season. Following his solid performance in a 1-0 victory against Manchester City, Gomez conceded a penalty against West Ham. He then had to face some harsh words from his coach. This done after some of his questionable decisions in his match against Nottingham Forest which Liverpool. The Reds struggled throughout the match, and Gomez was particularly looking out of form. Gomez backed off at one point instead of coming forward to defend, as noted by Liverpool Echo. This tipped off the Liverpool manager and he didn’t hold back as he threw some choices of words at him from the sidelines.

The Reds players to take time to rest and relax before Premier League resumes again

Few players namely, Firmino and Gomez were not chosen for the upcoming World Cup. As for players such as Mo Salah, Luiz Dias, and Robert Anderson- their countries did not qualify for the World Cup. This period will be a time for relaxation and rest for these players before the Premier League resumes again during Christmas. Joe Gomez would be looking forward to this break, hoping to come back stronger after the break.
