Mac Allister didn’t look at his very best – Martin Keown

Liverpool

Former Gunners Martin Keown claims that Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister didn’t look at his very best against Wolves on Saturday.

Reds conceded quickly in the very starting minutes of the match as Hwang Hee-chan scored the opening goal for the home team. However Liverpool made an incredible comeback in the second-half as they won the match 3:1.

Mac Allister looked out of play as he struggled to show his real form at Molineux. Manager Jurgen Klopp knew that he was struggling as the German subbed him off and Luis Diaz came on.

Martin Keown pointed out on TalkSPORT that the 24-year-old was struggling against Wolves. He said:

“Another mistake from Mac Allister.

“You didn’t see him do this in a Brighton jersey.“These are the basics. I wondered if he was going to drag his man down.

“Mac Allister would be better higher up the midfield. Liverpool are trying to force it through the midfield where Wolves are compact.”

The Argentine International is not known for his defensive attributes, hence he will be excellent in going up the field and creating the opportunities for the attackers. Klopp needs to deploy a defensive midfielder in their starting-11 from next game.

Wataru Endo can solve the problem for Liverpool but Mac Allister cannot be striked out. He has already proven his worth after winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.

However Argentine still needs little time to settledown to a new atmosphere but he is still adapting to new style of play in this campaign.
