Chelsea defender Malo Gusto says his Chelsea teammate Thiago Silva is ‘one of the greatest’ in the world. It was a shocker for Gusto on being the French National team for the first time this international break. He is in to replace an injured player. Though, he will be very excited to get his first experience now in the senior squad. Gusto joined Chelsea in the summer to give some competition to Reece James. However, he has played most of the games contributing to an injury for James. He knows that he will have many opportunities to shine in upcoming weeks amd even months. Gusto said on him getting French call,
“I was a bit surprised because I was preparing to represent Les Espoirs [France’s Under-21s] as usual, but when I was on the train, I received a message to say that I was stepping up. It’s a big honour and very good news for me. They were very proud of me and encouraged me to keep going. Now I’m here I want to make an impression on everyone.”
Chelsea have been playing him in the backline along with veteran defender Thiago Silva. Consequently, Gusto claims his partner to be the greatest in the world whilst out for the national duty with France. Speaking to RMC sport about Thiago Silva, Gusto said,
“He’s one of the greatest defenders in the world. He’s always on top, focused on what he’s doing. To see that he’s still at his best, it’s something that’s beautiful and inspires me a lot.”
