Manchester City are expected to enter the race for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, reports the Athletic Journalist David Ornstein.
According to the reports, Pep Guardiola’s side are planning to submit an offer for Rice. City are looking to hijack the deal after Arsenal’s last two bids were rejected by West Ham this week.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that City will only bid if Rice agrees to join them this summer. He also claims that Arsenal remain confident to sign the midfielder and are prepared bid again for him.
After Ikay Gündoğan left the club, City will look for a potential replacement in this transfer window. Rice has emerged as the viable option for Guardiola.
Rice is clearly a world-class talent who could make a bid impact at City, but it’s slightly hard to imagine he’d would guarented a key role at the Ethihad. They already have Rodri in that position, while Mateo Kovacic will join the club this summer.
However, Dean Jones claims that Rice had been considering himself as an Arsenal player heading into the summer, but now Manchester City have entered the race, that could change all. He said :-
“Arsenal definitely still have one more opportunity here, and they need to move fast on it and they need to get it right.
Let’s not forget that Declan Rice does want to join Arsenal and has been pretty much an Arsenal player in his head coming into this summer.
We have to remember that is the situation, that is the situation and I’m not discarding Arsenal at all.
