Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise has been in Manchester City’s interest this summer. The Champions of the Land have enquired about the player directly from Palace. City look to sign a winger this summer, following the attacking offloading they have done in the recent transfer windows.
Olise, who has been very impressive since joining Palace, has received a lot of praised by some legendary managers and pundits. His versatility and explosiveness has caught the attention of some big clubs in Europe. Olise was an important part in what was a memorable season for Palace. He registered 2 goals and 11 assists in 37 games in the league last season.
Not just Man City, but PSG were also reported to be intrested in signing the talented player. They also had enquired about Olise’s price. However, they decided not to go forward with the deal. Instead, they recently signed Ousmané Dembele from Barcelona. It comes as a positive news for City, as they now appear to have no major competition in the race to sign Olise.
Why are Manchester City looking to sign Olise?
Even though City’s squad appears to be in great shape, they are now need of an attacker. The recent departure of Riyad Mahrez, which followed the departures of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling last season, has led City to consider bringing in new attackers into their side.
Michael Olise’s playing style would suit Man City really well. Also with his versatility, Pep will have the option to deploy him in the wings as well as in the midfield. However, it mainly looks like Pep will most likely be looking to use Olise in the mid, which will allow him to use either Bernardo Silva or Phil Foden on the right hand side. Olise also prefers to play as midfielder, having mostly played in the centre of the pitch for Palace. With his pace and great attack positioning, he can play as an explosive attacking midfielder for City.
City get a major boost in their pursuit of Olise
Manchester City have recently recieved vital information regarding the release clause in Olise’s contract. According to The Athletic, there is released clause of £35 million included in Olise’s contract. This has given a massive boost to City. They are now reportedly looking to activate Olise’s release clause and start negotiations with him. However, no official bid has been received yet, confirmed Crystal Palace.
