Manchester City’s quest to secure the talented winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has received a significant boost, as the player’s agent revealed that a move to the Etihad is something Kvaratskhelia would “likely agree to“. The 22-year-old, currently showcasing his skills at Napoli, has become one of Europe’s most promising wingers.
Last season, Kvaratskhelia played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A triumph. This season, despite ongoing issues within the club, he continues to impress. Recent unrest at Napoli involves a feud between star striker Victor Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli. Osimhen, after a falling out with club officials, signed a new deal in December with a significant pay raise.
Agent hints at Manchester City move
Jugeli hinted at a potential move to Manchester City, stating,
“Khvicha wouldn’t accept a transfer to Saudi even if he offered him a billion euros. For example, he would probably agree to play for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, or Manchester City. Khvicha has different desires and goals: he wants to succeed, and he is already achieving it.”
Despite attracting interest in the summer, Kvaratskhelia chose to stay with Napoli, where he was assured of regular game-time. Talks about a new contract have been ongoing for several months, but the lack of updates suggests limited progress. His current contract extends until 2027, and reports indicate that Napoli would consider negotiations starting at €100m (£86m).
City’s interest in Kvaratskhelia remains uncertain, especially with Pep Guardiola expressing admiration for Jack Grealish, who operates in similar positions. The summer addition of Jeremy Doku and the versatile Phil Foden further adds depth to City’s attacking options.
