Manchester City set to battle with Real Madrid for the Bundesliga star

Manchester City are ready for a transfer battle with Spanish giants Real Madrid over the transfer of Alphonso Davies. Both Madrid and City might splash a huge sum to secure the Bayern’s defender move. There have been reports from German as well as European media outlets about the Candian’s future. City have been in a long hunt for a natural left-back position player. Pep Guardiola has been using Josko Gvardiol as a left-back so far this season. Moreover, Nathan Ake and Sergio Gomez have also been useful in the role in the past.

According to the information of Spanish newspaper AS, Manchester City are preparing for battle with Real Madrid over the move for Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies. The Canadian is not sure about where his future lies. However, it will depend upon the ‘will of the player’ whether he wants to stay at Allianz Arena or elsewhere in Europe. Though, some other Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation of the Canadian as per reports.

The left-back has always been a tough challenge for the Cityzens since their takeover. The only successful natural men were Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov. Since the arrival of Pep in 2016, the likes of Zinchenko, Fabian Delph, Bernardo Silva and Foden have operated in that position. Manuel Akanji and Laporte were also seen at times playing on the left. Though, any successful pursuit of Davies will surely require a considerable transfer fee. Moreover, it will be the first natural left-back signing since Benjamin Mendy in 2017 from AS Monaco.

It will be worth noticing whether Davies chooses City over the Spanish giants or not or will he stay with the Bavarians.
