Manchester City are now not willing to pay £5M more to sign Pep’s target

Pep Guardiola

It has been reported that Manchester City is unprepared to shell out £80 million for Lucas Paqueta. This news about this football transfer came after it was claimed on Thursday that the deal was set to enter into crucial stages. However, it seems like Manchester City has finally confirmed their budget for Pep’s ‘magical’ target. The Brazilian international’s potential arrival at Etihad Stadium has now become a necessity. With their main man, Kevin De Bruyne expected to be out for four months, Pep is now trying to bring a playmaker to replace his star midfielder.

Pep Guardiola looks in a no-nonsense mood to bolster his midfield department with a creative force. However, Manchester City looks like they could offer a package worth £80 million for Lucas Paqueta. But according to reports, West Ham United are demanding £85 million for Lucas Paqueta. Meanwhile, as things stand, the Premier League champions are unwilling to pay the extra £5 million that has been demanded by the hammers. If they pay the asked amount, it will be much easier for the treble winners to secure his services.

Why is Paqueta Manchester City’s ‘magical’ target:

Lucas Paqueta is an outrageous talent who also happens to be very versatile. He can play as an attacking midfielder and also as a central midfielder. He has excellent creativity, skills, vision, and work rate. Lucas Paqueta has been praised by football experts, legends, and football fans for his performance for Flamengo, AC Milan, West Ham United, and the Brazilian National team.

The 25-year-old was named the 2020 Ligue 1 Team of the Year after significantly contributing for his former club Lyon to finish second in the league. He scored his first Premier League hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in April 2023. He was nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award, along with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland.
