Manchester United have appointed Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager for the rest of their season. The Red Devils are in urgent need to fix their current season and they have chosen Rangnick to lead their comeback. United had to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following a run of bizarre results. While Rangnick has left his role of Head of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow to sign for the United job.
Manchester United made some serious investment but are still struggling and everybody is wondering why? They had to let go of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a mutual agreement and appointed Carrick as their caretaker manager. Rangnick has insisted on getting a consultancy role for two years after his interim job and United have agreed to his requirements. Moreover, he is going to work with the United board for the appointment of their permanent manager.
United’s football director John Murtogh also added to the official Manchester United site,
“He was our number one candidate for interim manager, reflecting the invaluable leadership and technical skills he will bring from almost four decades of experience in management and coaching.”
“Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with him during the season ahead, and then for a further two years in his advisory role.”
Why Ralf Rangnick could be the perfect appointment for Manchester United?
Many deemed United as a team with no tactics or plans. However, Rangnick is one of the most revolutionary managers in world football and the most revolutionary in German football. He is the founder of gegenpressing in modern football. Moreover, he has influenced several world-class managers like Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Ralph Hasenhuttl. His proactive football and active pressing make the game very energetic and lively to watch.
Rangnick has a reputation to develop and build clubs to help them reach greater heights. Further, United fans are dying to see their club play with energy and intent and Rangnick is very capable of delivering that. His work at RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim, and everywhere else is remarkable in its own way. Nevertheless, the more important part of this deal is the two-year consultancy role he will have at the club after his interim stint. He is also a great recruiter and has very good experience in that department of the game. United have previously made a series of wrong decisions which have haunted them later. Rangnick’s work in appointing a permanent manager is going to be crucial. He will also help the manager in scouting and signing the players with his consultancy role at the club.
Manchester United players will have to co-operate with Rangnick as he is a man with a clear vision for his job. If United players fail to deliver what Rangnick wants then they will be in grave danger including Rangnick’s contract and reputation. This is by far the biggest job Rangnick has ever had in his career. However, he always has a clear mind and knows what he is doing. If United players play as Rangnick wants them to then he will turn them into a dangerous side and other teams will have to be cautious. Ralf Rangnick’s appointment at Manchester United is certainly a piece of bad news for their rival clubs.
