Marc Cucurella is working hard to impress Mauricio Pochettino. Despite this, a January exit is possible for the defender. This is according to a report from Sport. They claim that 25-year old Marc Cucurella, was “very close” to exiting Chelsea in the summer amid loan interest from both Newcastle United and Manchester United. According to the Evening Standard, both Marc Cucurella and Chalobah can be ostracised at Stamford Bridge.

It is a possibility that the £60m defender will leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming January transfer. However, the Spanish full-back is working overtime in the training session to try and get a way into Mauricio line-up. This is great to hear that Cucurella is working extra hard despite lack of game opportunities by Mauricio Pochettino.

The £60million full-back has played zero minutes this season in the Premier League and watched the games from the bench. The last 90-min starter for the Spanish International came last month. The match against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup victory. Irrespective of this, it is looking very unlikely that Pochettino will pick him over the likes of Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell. Pochettino will consider the latter two as favourites for the left-back position.

It has been a struggle to see a path back into the Chelsea side right now for Cucurella, courtesy to injuries. Ian Maatsen and Marc Cucurella are in a similar boat. They may just have to grin and bear it until the New Year, when they can then assess their own situations.
