Mateo Kovacic reveals about his new life at the club and also shares the regret he has as well

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid man Mateo Kovacic opens up on his new life at Manchester City. The Sky Blues secured a move for Kovacic this summer from Premier League rivals Chelsea for £25m. He also shares the regret he has of not playing under Pep earlier in his career. The Croatia international has made more than 500 appearances in his career playing for clubs like Dinamo Zagreb and Inter Milan. Though, he feels that he is still learning new things under Guardiola. He said,

“It’s amazing and tough because I’m learning a lot of new things and I would have loved to come at an earlier age to learn.

I would’ve loved someone to have told me a few years ago. But yeah, now I can still learn and you can really tell he is fantastic. I’ve really enjoyed it from the first moment. It was tough the first few days to understand what he wants – ‘don’t move there, go there’.

Manchester City also secured a move for another Croatian, Josko Gvardiol, from RB Leipzig for £77.6m. He is a valuable signing for City as he can play both centre-back and left-back. The 29-year old midfielder also praised his club and country mate saying,

“I think he can really dominate in European football. He can take, especially in Croatia, centre-backs to on another level, because we always were talented playing from the back, but he has something special.”

The Croatian was a key figure at Chelsea and even helped them in securing their second UEFA Champions League title in 2021. He made 221 appearances for the Blues scoring 6 goals and 15 assists in all competitions. He even was a Europa League winner with Chelsea as well.
