Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy confirms that Liverpool are currently eyeing a move for Brazilian talent Andre Trindade this summer.

Reds are looking to hijack the deal as reports from Portugal suggests Sporting Lisbon were keen to sign Andre. However, as per Portuguese outlet Record, they’ve left the race due to Liverpool’s interest.

Brazilian outfit Fluminense wants around £25 for their prodigy this summer. Andre is one of their star assets during this transfer window.

Price tag won’t be a issue for Liverpool, as they sold Fabinho to Al-Ittihad and recieved £40 million from his sale. Reds have the funds available to bring reinforcement this summer.

Melissa Reddy now confirmed on Twitter that Liverpool are now leading the race to sign Andre this summer. She wrote :-

“Liverpool have tabled an improved bid for Romeo Lavia, but are concurrently exploring a deal for other options – Andre of Fluminense among them – if Southampton’s valuation remains excessive.”

However, she retweeted and wrote :-

“Liverpool have officially made contact with Fluminense over the possibility of signing midfielder Andre.”

He is a defensive midfielder by trade and he has been a key figure in Fluminense team in past few years. The 22-year-old has made over 100 appearances across all competitions.

Due to his recent exploits, Andre was called for Brazilian squad for their most recent set of international friendlies. He made his senior debut off the bench during 4:2 defeat against Senegal this year.

Andre would be an ideal replacement for his fellow country man in Liverpool colours and fans are currently hoping that he might just be reminiscent of our former No.3.
