Micah Richards is not happy about the Phil Foden situation in the English team. Micah has questioned Gareth Southgate about starting Jordan Henderson over Phil Foden against Ukraine. England secured a 1-1 draw against Ukraine on Saturday in the Euro 2024 qualifier. England pulled a draw courtesy to Walker who showed great individual display. Despite this, there has been a lot of criticism for Southgate after the match.

Micah Richards simply could not hide his frustration after the game. Richards has been speaking on the The Rest Is Football podcast about England’s latest result. He said,

“I just thought… we know what Henderson can do. We know that, we’ve seen it for so many years. It was crying out for someone like Phil Foden to start. Get on the half-turn and make something happen. We knew how Ukraine were going to play. They’re going to drop deep. Even the manager said before the game that they had a plan for how the game’s going to go. Let’s just experiment a little bit more! It’s just frustrating.”

Micah Richards is baffled by Foden situation

It is baffling that Foden does not start regularly for England national team. The 23-year old is among the best talents in the England. Being a second choice to the veteran Henderson is a bit disappointing. Micah’s frustration will not only be shared by City fans but also by neutrals as well. Moreover, Foden is a very dynamic player and could have been a much better option against Ukraine.
